About the event

Commemoration of the 60th Anniversary of the August 1963 March on Washington planned by the Caucus of African American Leaders (CAAL), a group that  has been an active community organization at the forefront of human and civil rights and social and racial justice for over ten years. 

With a vision to do its part in making the world a better place for all, the members of CAAL are committed to fighting for the human rights of African Americans. To this end, to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the 1963 March on Washington, CAAL is planning a two-day community event with a reenactment of the original March and its program on Saturday, August 26 followed by a worship service on Sunday August 27. 

The theme for this event is “Together We Can Be The Dream As We Commemorate, Educate, Activate.” For more information, to express your interest in participating in any capacity, or to donate, please contact the committee at MDMOW60th@gmail.com. More info here. Schedule includes the following:

  • Saturday, August 26
  • 10:00 a.m.  Reenactment March – leaving from the Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium, 511 Taylor Ave., Annapolis, MD and ending at City Dock.
  • 12:00 p.m. Official Program – Susan B. Campbell Park at the City Dock
